GUNFLINT TRAIL SNOW REPORT
We have close to 12” of ice on Hungry Jack Lake. I have heard reports from other area lakes that the ice has been ranging from 8”-12” pretty consistently. I know Gunflint Lake, Loon Lake, and Clearwater Lake have just recently froze and are probably not safe for travel yet. I would say that we have probably a good 6” to 8” of snow cover in total.
The biggest change is that the Loggers Lounge at Hungry Jack Lodge now is a "full service" bar ! We now have a full liquor license and are serving hard liquor. In addition, we now have 6 different tap beers. Be sure to try our Hungry Jack Logger draft beer, available exclusivly at Hungry Jack Lodge. It's turned out to be a real favorite.
Well the snow is coming slowly. We have received about 3” of fresh snow over the weekend and it is still snowing lightly. We are still in need of more snow to get the snowmobile trails open but I guess some is better than none. The lakes however have a pretty good ice cover.

GUNFLINT TRAIL AND GRAND MARAIS EVENTS CALENDAR
We have added a new Gunflint Trail Events Calendar page to the Hungry Jack Lodge website. We will be posting information on the Gunflint Trail Events Calendar page of our website about snow conditions (during the winter), Minnesota DNR season opening & closing dates, area activities & events for the Grand Marais and Gunflint Trail areas and of course special events occuring at our northern MN family resort.

Many changes have been made in the Loggers Lounge bar of our winter resort for the 2009-2010 snowmobiling season.

For those of you that want something to eat while snowmobiling on the Gunflint Trail snowmobile trail system, our food menu has also been expanded. We have expanded both our sandwich menu and now have a wider selection of appetizers to choose from.
Full liquor service. Six draft beers on tap. A wide selection of food choices. It's all available in the Loggers Louge at Hungry Jack Lodge, on the Gunflint Trail for the 2009-2010 snowmobiling and Minnesota winter activities seasons.
RENT A LOG CABIN AT OUR NORTHERN MN WINTER RESORT
We currently have a fair number of winter cabin rentals available at our Minnesota winter resort for the snowmobiling and ice fishing season. If possibly, we suggest that you make your winter vacation reservations at our Grand Marais, Gunflint Trail resort as soon as possible to insure that you can get a rental log cabin on the dates that you want. Also keep in mind that we rent snowmobiles. We have a total of 6 snowmobiles for rent, some of which are 2-up and some are 1-up. Once snowmobile conditions in the Grand Marais and Gunflint Trail areas of northern Minnesota get good, our rental snowmobiles are booked quickly. So, be sure to reserve your rental snowmobiles as early as you can.

GUNFLINT TRAIL & GRAND MARAIS SNOW REPORTS
The lower level Loggers Lounge, which is a favorite stop for snowmobilers on the Gunflint Trail now has 2 to 3 times the amount of space that our old bar area had. The bar itself has more than double the seating and there are 3 to 4 times more tables in our Loggers Lounge for those that want to enjoy their favorite beverage. Full liquor service is now available at our MN snowmobiling and ice fishing winter resort.
It won’t be long before thew Minnesota snowmobiling season is here. Due to our fire in 2008 we lost our email snow reports mailing list. So, if you would like Grand Marais and Gunflint Trail snow reports emailed to you and you have not signed up to be on the snow report list which is sent out by our MN winter resort since the spring of 2008 be sure to sign up now.
We had about 2.5" of snow last night and Hungry Jack Lake is beginning to freeze. Our Minnesota snowmobile resort will begin sending out Gunflint Trail & Grand Marais MN snow reports when we have substantial snow or when the lakes freeze over completely.
The new main lodge at Hungry Jack Lodge will be open for the 2009/2010 MN snowmobiling and ice fishing seasons beginning on December 26th.
The dining room of our new winter log lodge is bigger and better than ever. There is much more seating capacity for those who want what is unarguably the best burgers and fries on the Gunflint Trail. In addition, a new state-of-the-art kitchen will help us get our food out quicker, which means you can get back out on your sled faster.

If someone in your group doesn’t have a sled we can get them out on the miles of groomed snowmobile trails with you. Snowmobile rentals are available by the day or half day. Multi day and weekly snowmobile rental rates are also available.
We suggest making a reservation for your rental snowmobiles in advance, especially for weekend snowmobile trips to our Gunflint Trail, Grand Marais, MN snowmobile resort. We have only 4 one-up and 2 two-up Polaris snowmobiles available for rent. Book your rental snowmobiles early to insure that one is available when you come up for snowmobiling in the Grand Marais, MN, Gunflint Trail area.
